welcome to HOMEGROWN MUSIC GB

Formed at IBC studios London,England in 1968, HOMEGROWN MUSIC has produced some of the most collectable music tracks in the world including PATH THROUGH THE FOREST and TRY A LITTLE SUNSHINE by THE FACTORY and albums by FIVE DAY RAIN and ONE WAY TICKET.

HOMEGROWN MUSIC was just an idea of two frustrated engineers who loved recording and trying out new ideas. Remember we were there when 3 track was all the rage and over dubbing was the norm. We both gave our best for our clients and would have loved to have had the chances that they had. It was quite frustrating for Damon to spend a whole day working with a famous singer and equally famous producer who wasted a whole day as they were too stoned to do any work. But Damon worked with some of the best and if his time was now he would be knocking up masters on a computer without having to leave his bedroom.
THE FACTORY and FIVE DAY RAIN were two bands that, with a little bit of luck, could have made it and even today the sound is spot on. ONE WAY TICKET was just me and Damon getting together without the egos that all bands carry around with them (not you Rick!!!). Damon played everything, I wrote the lyrics and thanks to everything Damon had learned he made my vocals seem as if I could sing.
To me they were great days and perhaps if we were a little younger and a few years later we could have produced a song without all the over dubbing. All we would have needed was a drum machine and keyboards that could play any instrument.
Those bands of today who are lucky enough to record in a proper studio still produce the best work and know the value of a good engineer. The sounds on these records were mainly recorded on 8 track and the challenge was still there.
